How are dental implants different from dentures, partials, or crown and bridgework?

Dental implants are prosthetic teeth that closely mimic nature. The small titanium implant posts acts as a tooth root, a solid foundation on which an esthetic crown is placed. Dental implants can last a lifetime and require the same care that natural teeth need.

Dentures, partials, and bridges are held in place by clasps or adhesives, so the fit is not secure, and slippage occurs. While these prosthetics function adequately, they do not offer the solid, reliable function that dental implants offer, and they do not last as long.
